Never before have the masters who hold the secrets of Neapolitan taste united in one
body that represented them as such.
The Hands of Naples are what has always been missing,
an association made up of natural and legal persons from Naples and the Metropolitan City who
they produce clothing items or accessories in the area. They are also admitted "in cultural quota"
individuals who have distinguished themselves for their knowledge and commitment in the fields covered by the association.
The Hands of Naples are by statute a single body, divided however into Art Chambers where the
representatives of the different sectors: tailoring, shirt-making, tie-making, shoe-making, glove-making, etc.
The program of the Mani di Napoli: A) Transmit Neapolitan art and style with training
high profile carried out largely in the workshop, so that the apprentices acquire the theory from
professors and practice from masters. B) Promote, thanks to elaborate Production Regulations
from the Art Chambers, a transparency that contrasts the ambiguity in which many articles wallow
mediocre defined as "tailored". C) Acquire and share the advantages of bargaining power
multiplied. D) Organize events that, combining culture and worldliness, attract people to Naples
international people and personalities who love to dress and live. E) Enhance the product, the
brand and person of each individual member. F) Enhance the territory that makes them all special,
focusing on an image of Naples as synonymous with good taste, but also with reliability.
Ultimately, we intend to give talent in manual creation the prestige denied to it since
Middle Ages. It's not enough for us to be known, we are not bloggers.
The Hands of Naples intend to deserve authority and the tools they have chosen for this purpose are: 1) Quality of members and
their product. 2) Originality of ideas. 3) Timeliness and imagination in putting them into practice. 4) Relationships with social, cultural and political institutions. 5) Dynamic use of the means of communication. 6) Internal cohesion.
In short, Le Mani di Napoli proposes a material purpose, which simply consists in
make members more competitive in purchasing raw materials, directing them in an organized way.
A cultural purpose, which is in the deepening, protection and transmission of that traditional knowledge
which makes the artefacts fascinating and recognisable. Training will be a primary objective, but in
in a second phase we plan to set up a foundation that will take care of a composite academic centre
from an Institute of Artisan Studies and a tailoring museum.
Finally an ideal purpose:
relocate
Naples in its natural position as the Capital of Style, offering visibility to local realities
who seriously create products that represent Neapolitan taste and art of living.
